Did Rachel fail to get votes because she is black?
The Guardian's correspondent Deborah Orr touches (ever so lightly) on this senstive on Rachels shock elimination.
Which brings me to The X Factor. I just don't understand how fabulous Rachel managed to get herself into the bottom two for three weeks out of four, or quite how she managed to get kicked out last Sunday instead of that weedy, croaky, blue-eyed blond, Lloyd.
I'm afraid that a part of me wonders whether we prefer our black entertainers to be a bit more "street" than Rachel was, or even whether, after Leona, Alexandra and JLS, the public yearns for some white success – now guaranteed, unless Danyl spectacularly turns round his negative public profile.
But since nobody else seems to have such nasty suspicions, I can only presume that I am indeed far too hung up on skin colour. Must try harder

Rachel performing in London and Glasgow
Dannii Minogue has revealed that Rachel's next public performances will be at G-A-Y in London and McClusky's in Kingston (Upon Thames) and tomorrow she heads up to Glasgow where she performs at the Campus.

Rachel braves the rains up North....
Warrington is a far cry from the glamour of the X-Factor live show and the multi-million pound house the contestants live in.
There is where Rachel Adedeji found herself on Thursday, as tends to be the norm in that part of the country it was chucking it down.
She was in Warrington to sing at a gig at the Talk Talk Contact Centre in Birchwood, Warrington. Rachel sang some of the songs she performed during her four week tenure on the ITV talent show - U2's One and Robbie Williams' Let Me Entertain You.
Rachel, who controversially lost out to croaky-voiced Lloyd Daniels on Sunday's X Factor "sing-off", said she has no regrets about her experience on the show, and said she'll keep on watching and cheering on her pals.
"I love Joe [McElderry] so I want him to win," she told me.
"I think it will be Joe and Stacey [Solomon] in the final."
Rachel also confided that she was glad she stayed in the show long enough to meet a personal favourite of hers - rocker Jon Bon Jovi.
She giggles: "I really fancy him. I went up to him after the show and told him: `I think you're sexy'. He looked a bit shocked and said, `oh ok'."

Rachel appeared on GMTV this morning and was brilliant .
Rachel Adedeji appeared on GMTV on Friday morning. Firstly she looked great, she has got rid of the Dannii Minogue Bob and gone back to her original Rihanna-esque haircut and it looked good.
Also the make up was subtle and nice unlike the horrid Grace Jones slap the X-Factor live show stylists insisted on using.
She said she was having a great time, did not give away too much on what the future holds for her but definitely wants to stay in Music.
She was introduced by Michael Buble to a senior A&R man at Warner Brothers (Buble's label) who asked her to contact him. Also one of the song writers for JLS has said he would like to write a single for her.
Said she would like Joe or Stacey to win, and loves the Twins, described them as full of energy, positive vibes and one of the hardest working contestants on the show.

Rachel Adedeji unhappy that X-Factor doesn't focus on talent.
Rachel Adedeji is not happy, and she's letting the country know. She's expressed her frustration with X-Factor increasingly focusing on things other than talent. Speaking to Welsh radio station Red Dragon FM, she said: "I don't know if X Factor is about talent anymore to be honest - seriously."
She was speaking after being evicted from the show after losing out to Lloyd Daniels in the sing-off last weekend. She however conceded that the that being a good singer is not what motivates all contestants.
Talking about controversial twins John and Edward Grimes, she added: "They don't have to be good singers, what the hell. Listen, they enjoy what they do and they want to be popstars."
Rachel biggest praise was reserved for her best mate on the show, Joe McElderry, saying: "He's my favourite. Week after week he's proper going for it. He just wants to do this and is one of the most positive people in the house. I love Joe."

Rachel Adedeji's X-Factor Journey....
This week the Great British Public spoke and to be honest it was a load of B@*%!#ks. For the third time in four weeks Rachel Adedeji was voted in the bottom two and this time there was no reprieve.
Despite having arguably one of the best voices in the competition, the public had remained unmoved. Rachel may have been voted out, but it goes without saying that she was one of the best contestants to grace this year's X-Factor.
As she departs our TV screens for now, we look back over Rachel's X-Factor journey. Where do we start, at the beginning of course, except Rachel is the only one of the 12 finalist whose auditions were not shown on TV and is one of the reasons she was comparatively unknown at the beginning.
So we to roll forward to the Boot camp where she had her real first exposure.
Paolo Nutini's Last Request was Rachel's choice and it was sensational, but also gave a hint of what was to come. When she choose her own songs she was great, but was given too many songs by others that didn't really fit her.
At this point it will be remiss of us not to mention how excitable and endearing Rachel was. When Dannii was introduced as the Mentor of the Girls group she gave us this legendary TV moment.
Off Rachel went to Dubai, the task was to convince Dannii and sister Kylie Minogue that she was deserving of a place in the final.
She sang Pink's Nobody Knows and Kylie and Dannii had some reservations, but they knew she was the real deal, and as we have come to expect more heartfelt emotion from Rachel when the decision was broken to her.

Now the real work began, getting on stage before a live TV audience of over 12 million and wowing them.
It was the first show and Rachel was the first contestant to perform not a good place to start because by the time the other 11 contestants have performed, people would have forgotten you. Also who's decisions was it to give her Robbie William's Let Me Entertain You? the song is too closely associated with Robbie. Plus the styling was too harsh.

Sadly this this left her at the end of the show in the bottom two, the Sing-Off, with Kandy Rain and she had to sing for her life. This time she got to choose her own song and despite being gutted she ROCKED! singing Pink's Nobody Knows again.
Kandy Rain versus Rachel? The Judges were split and it went to the deadlock, the public vote decided it and....
....Rachel was through to week 2.
Once again though she was hampered by poor styling and in my opinion a poor song choice. Rachel is not a battling diva like Leona Lewis or even Alexandra Burke, so Beyonce's - If I were a Boy was not really the song for her. Once again her styling was dubious, it was almost a throwback to Grace Jones in the 80's.
The end result same as the last week. Rachel was again in the bottom two, this time against Rikki Loney. Again she rescued herself with her own song choice U2's With or Without You. A bit gravelly in places, but she was emotional.
This time though the Judges saved her and she was through to Week 3.
Two close calls for and no one would blame Rachel if she thought it was all getting too much, but she is more resilient than that and in Week 3 - Big Band Week - she gave a storming performance of Tina Turner's Proud Mary.
This time there was no doubt of the quality of her performance and she was easily through to Week 4.
Week 4 was rock week and Rachel was given U2's One Love and this time she song was right cos she rocked but did she connect with public?
Sadly she didn't and was again in the bottom two facing the idol of teeny boppers across the country Lloyd Daniel. Her sing-off performance of Oasis' - Stop Crying Your Heart Out was in our estimation the best performance on the X-Factor this season, she blew Lloyd out of the water.
Sadly though three times in the bottom two was three times too many, the Judges were split but the voting public had made their mind up

Did Rachel "win" last weeks show?
This week has been topsy-turvy, first the news broke that the twins, yes John and Edward, of all people had received the most votes.
Needless to say this revelation sent shock waves through X-Factor fan-dom, as people struggled to come to terms with the thought that the Twins could actually go on and win it all.
However their fears were calmed when later in the week a newspaper claimed the the initial leak was fake and they had the real vote tally and remarkably Rachel Adedeji topped the poll. Remarkable as Rachel had been in the bottom two for the last two weeks (undeservedly in my opinion) .
According to the newspapers source Rachel topped the poll, with the twins escaping the bottom two by 0.5%. The report also claims that John and Edward have been in the bottom four every week so far.
A source is quoted as saying: "This is going to blow the whole competition wide open now."
"People were actually starting to believe that the twins were going to win. But now it seems their days are well and truly numbered. They could even be out this week."

Rihanna, Akon all want to sing with Rachel
Things might be looking up for Rachel at long last. After two weeks in the bottom two in the X-Factor Final and only narrowly being saved on both occassions, things might just be turning around the her.
Media reports have rumours that Pop princess Rihanna and R&B Star Akon had all expressed interest in working with the 17 year old singer. The opportunity came after close friend and former X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke put in a good word for Rachel with US music chiefs.
The new development means whatever the outcome of X-Factor Rachel may already have a budding music career ahead of her.

I know the bookies say the smart money is on Stacey Solomon or Lucie Jones, but I think there will be a big upset this year and the woman to do it is Rachel. She has the look and sound of a proper singer and I expect her to grow as the competition goes on....
